چکیده

This paper deals with the modeling of real IP flows using Markov-modulated On–Off processes. In first section paper, we summarize knowledge found so far about Markov modulated regular process model, which has already been published in our previous papers. For sake completeness, also well-known facts regarding Bernoulli process. second section, deal continuation Our own derivation hitherto-unknown probability distribution time spaces (tail distribution) is completely new. its derivation, used tail generating function, and then, calculated moments (mean, variation, third initial moment). will allow us to create a new numerical procedure for estimating MMBP parameters from measured traffic. Finally, present formula sizing network resources given flow effective bandwidth respect QoS based on level

Simulating internet traffic with Markov-modulated processes

This paper considers various Markov-modulated processes which have been used in the literature to model internet traffic. In particular, such processes have been used to replicate the long-range dependent nature of internet traffic and the justification for doing so is that long-range dependence (LRD) has important effects on delays and buffer occupancy in traffic models. However, in combinatio...

Modeling Self-similar Traffic through Markov Modulated Poisson Processes over Multiple Time Scales

In recent years several studies have reported peculiar types of traffic behavior, such as long-range dependence and self-similarity, which can have significant impact on network performance. In this paper we propose a novel traffic model and parameter fitting procedure, based on Markov Modulated Poisson Processes (MMPPs), which is able to capture variability over many time scales, a characteris...

Modeling MPEG Coded Video Traffic by Markov-Modulated Self-Similar Processes

Markov modulated self-similar processes are proposed to model MPEG video sequences that can capture the LRD (Long Range Dependency) characteristics of video ACF (Auto-Correlation Function). The basic idea is to decompose an MPEG compressed video sequence into three parts according to different motion/content complexity such that each part can individually be described by a self-similar process....

Markov-modulated Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes

In this paper we consider an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (ou) process (M(t))t>0 whose parameters are determined by an external Markov process (X(t))t>0 on a nite state space {1, . . . , d}; this process is usually referred to as Markov-modulated Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (or: mmou). We use stochastic integration theory to determine explicit expressions for the mean and variance of M(t). Then we establish a sys...

The Markov Modulated Poisson Process and Markov Poisson Cascade with Applications to Web Traffic Modeling

A Markov modulated Poisson Process (MMPP) is a Poisson process whose rate varies according to a Markov process. The nonhomogeneous MMPP developed in this article is a natural model for point processes whose events combine irregular bursts of activity with predictable (e.g. daily and hourly) patterns. We show how the MMPP may be viewed as a superposition of unobserved Poisson processes that are ...
